Actor or Technical IT Engineer?

Actor or Technical IT Engineer? That was the question an employee of Amsterdam housing association Eigen Haard asked himself when he was told he had to leave as of May 1 due to a reorganization. Eigen Haard signed him up with Oxhill7 to guide him, and consultant Jan Blom went to work with him.

At first he was a bit cautious, but he became more and more active and enthusiastic. His knowledge and skills in the ICT field are great and due to the tight labor market, he should be able to get a job before May 1. However, due to the Corona crisis, many companies became more cautious about hiring new people and making new commitments. Many interviews followed and secondment agencies were enthusiastic about the employee, but the right employer just could not be found.

It was a disadvantage that he did not yet have a driver's license. He had already passed his theory and he was waiting for a call to be allowed to drive off, but again the Corona crisis threw a spanner in the works. It was April 27 when he called me delighted that it had worked out after all. He was hired at a company in Utrecht, a 15-minute bike ride from his home. Because of his versatile work experience and his perseverance, he got a one-year contract and will start here on May 4. And with acting he also continues. He has already had several roles in productions and hopes to break through as an actor someday. But for now, he is going to work as an IT Engineer!
